Is Password in Backup Plan securely stored?

Thread needs solution

We plan to use Acronis to run a backup in highly secure environment and want to ensure that the password we enter in the Backup Plan is secured/encrypted when the plan is saved and stored on the computer. Can you verify that the password provided in the Acronis Backup Plan is encrypted and not stored as plain text on the computer?

Hello Carlos!

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad you joined us! I completely understand your concern, and will be glad to assist you.

I would like to assure you that password is safely encrypted and not stored anywhere on the machine or the backup plan script. You can check it yourself by running the trial version of Acronis Backup and Recovery Server for Windows. It is full functional and has no limitations except:

  • 15 days of work
  • Trial bootable media can restore only

I would also advise you to take a look at Installation, Quick Start and User's Guides - you may find this information useful.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
