RDX drives and Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 - Virtual Edition

Thread needs solution

Contrary to the support section my RDX drive appears to be detected as a hard drive rather than a removable device, I’m able to mount the images created from the cartridges.

My question is what issues can this cause?

I have noticed that I receive warnings "The archive was successfully recreated." and viewing the personal vaults doesn't show any backups. The warning can be avoided by opening the backup schedule and then saving it (I think it writes config data to the .meta folder on the RDX cartridge) but I think that is partly what is causing the lack of backup listing.

Everything seems to be working ok so far...

Hello Jeremy Taylor,

Thank you very much for your post and I would to thank you for your feedback.

It is very possible that you are using an RDX drive that is detected by Windows not as a CD-ROM. Any chance you can verify this?

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.

The drive is deteted as a Disk Drive in Windows Server 2008 (SP2) and is a HP RDX USB device.

In other words the drive is detected as a USB hard drive not a CD drive.
