Remote installation failure in Domain environment, Moderators please read

Thread needs solution

I am facing the same issues as some of the guys in the thread where Remote Installation in an domain enviroment does not work. I am keen to try out the intermediate patch 17334 17335 that you are distributing to the rest of the customers via private FTP by the moderator.

I had a few remote install/deploy issues. I think I've figured out a way that works for me.

1. If you're using a service account to run the Acronis software...just make sure the service account isn't in the Backup Operators group...local or domain. Not sure why that things failed when our service account was a member of that group, but it did. In my lab domain, my service account is just basic domain user member. That's it.

2. When pushing out your agents, I deploy it with my domain credentials...I happen to be a domain admin so that helps. If you want to use a domain service account, the machine receiving the agent should have that account in the local administrator group. Go through your agent feature options, but on the last screen, use there's a box that says, "More Options" or something. That allows you to specify whether the Acronis installer will create a new local Acronis user on the remote machine or use a service account. I obviously specify the domain service account credentials there.

3. When doing the deployment as mentioned above, I specify the IP address rather than a Netbios or FQDN. I had deployment failures even when browsing the network with Acronis to find the machine. Specifying the IP seemed to be the way to go. After that, Acronis will see the FQDN of the new client in the managed computer list.

Hope some of those suggestions help you.

Thanks for responding, but the suggestions you mentioned didnt work. I just managed to get HOTFIX 17375 from live chat which solved the problem. You might want to consider trying that as well.
