Restore image from networked PC requires Username & Password, but not created with one!

Thread needs solution

3 days ago I created a full backup, which I'd like to now restore. I boot the PC with the recovery disk, enter the Restore Data Wizard, but when when accessing the external hard drive via the network, it asks me for a Username and Password, which I never used when creating the image. Not only that, but neither of my home PCs are password protected!

I have exactly the same problem. All my network PCs can not be accessed when browsing for my True Image archive files. I have no passwords set on any of my home PCs, so there IS no passwords I can enter.

However, when I browse to my NAS box, it works fine. The NAS box is a Thecus N3200, so is using a NIX based OS. All other PCs are Windows 7 machines.

So.. I have back ups that are utterly useless, and my PC is unprotected.

The clocks ticking Acronis... if you can't fix this fast, Norton gets my custom, and you lose it.

I'm currently on a trial version with a view of replacing Norton Ghost with this... I love the way it works.. I love it's GUI, and I REALLY love the way it maxxes out my network at 118MB/sec when backing up to my big server.

I do NOT like having absolutely no means of recovering my PC should the worst happen.

Without this being fixed... this is a useless product.

Please don;'t suggest that I SET a password for my network devices... this isn;t really fixing it is it... plus.. I don't want to.

We live in hope.... but not holding our breath.

So try username "guest" with empty password. It works with my WinXP-SP3 PC.
If doesn't work, check your network profile settings on Win7 PCs to grant access for anonymous users and try again "guest" with blank password.
