Restoring backups to VM

Thread needs solution

Hi,

We have taken a backup of our data-server which is 4TB.
We are not able to restore this backup to a VM because the max virtual disk size is limited to 950GB ?

Is this correct and if so, could you bypass it?

Greetings,

Hello Ivan,

Thank you very much for your question. I will be happy to assist you.

Most likely you are trying to convert to a New Virtual machine. Unfortunately, as you mentioned correctly, there is this size limitation.

As a workaround, I can recommend to create a new virtual machine manually and add the necessary hard drives to it. After that, you can use the Acronis bootable CD together with Acronis Universal Restore to restore your image. When prompted for drivers by Acronis Universal Restore, you can use the ones located in this folder on your machine: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\UniversalRestore\DriversPack

These are default virtual machine drivers which are used by our software during conversion.

Thank you.
