Simulating Recovery
Hi Guys
I hope you chaps are well. I need some great advice. Thanks In advance.
Okay:
We have a Windows 2008 R2 Server. I just installed Acronis 11 with universal restore.
I made a full backup and the boo-table media iso as well.
I decided to simulate restoring our server to see if it would work in case our server broke or packed up.
I made a new virtual bare metal machine on Hyper V and booted up the acronis boot media.
The linux type GUI loaded and all was well.
As this would be a machine with no operating system I imagine the "Universal restore" option is to be selected. If I am correct in my assumptions the universal restore function can restore our server OS on another physical computer if ours is to pack up. I am correct?
Anyway- Upon clicking on the Universal Restore: Have a look at the attached Jpeg. It says it cant find operating system. Is this normal? And can i continue with the restore?
Thanks so much Guys
J

'Apply universal restore' button on the main page, that you pressed, applies UR to the disk of the machine , not to the backup (and it can't find OS because it's a bare-metal machine). To simulate restore, you need click 'restore' button and check 'use universal restore' on the recovery page.
