A task with ID "XXX" does not exist / Error 1326 - MMSAcepReporter.exe

Thread needs solution

Morning everyone,

Non critical error occurring on one of my clients servers, have previously zapped all the tasks on other setups and recreated but wanted to see if I can actually get this one fixed.

Addition info at bottom of post, eventlog / scheduler output.

As you can see we're getting the general "Task with ID does not exist", tracing this GUID through finds the job listed in the scheduler output at the bottom. It's not a backup job, it appears to be a monthly reporting job running MMSAcepReporter.exe.

For information, and have checked the following:

1) The Scheduler service is logging on as the Local System account
2) The Acronis Managed Machine Service is logging on as DOMAIN\Acronis account setup during installation
3) Acronis Remote Agent is running under Network Service
4) Acronis VSS Provider is under Local System

So, anyone got any idea on how to resolve?

I could simply zap the task from the scheduler but I'd like to know what it's meant for first before removing it.

Windows Server 2003 R2 x64, SP2

Hello INL!

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here! I understand your concern and will be glad to shed the light onto the situation!

The main error in the log is:
A task with ID '175175AE-ED85-4233-96F4-BC9E6915336B' does not exist.
This means that there are some traces left in the registry from the deleted tasks. It doesn't affect the product's functionality, and can be safely ignored, but if it concerns you, you can remove it with the following steps:

  1. Download Acronis Scheduler Manager. Open command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd); run schedmgr.exe and issue the following command:
    task zap
This will erase all traces of the tasks.
  2. Update Scheduler as mentioned in this article
  3. Reboot the machine
  4. Recreate the tasks

Or use the task zap with the particular task id to erase only the faulty record.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Hi Yana,

Thanks for your reply. I'd like to investigate other avenues of approach first before zapping tasks, this seems to be a generic response to this issue, from the Acronis Techs, which I have had previously at another customer.

As an update today, I have received exactly the same error over the weekend from a different client, who had their tasks zapped a month ago, additional info below:

As you can see this is exactly the same executable trying to run, as the same NTAUTHORITY\SYSTEM account, with an exactly identical GUID, on a monthly rotation, the only difference is the actual Task X-X number but I believe this is largely irrelevant.

This is not a task that has been configured by me on either setup yet is appearing in both places, this would point me to there being a misconfiguration with the task, ie the account being used, or similar.

I look forward to your reply.

Cheers

Greg

Dear INL!

Thank you for your question, and for sharing your concerns with me. I really appreciate it.

We can surely run the details investigation. Could you please kindly do the following?

  1. Update Acronis Backup and Recovery to the latest, 12457 build
  2. Reproduce the issue, gather and send us Acronis Info from the problem machine

This information will help us to localise the issue, and find an appropriate solution for it.

Thank you once again for your cooperation!

Hi Yana,

Apologies for the delayed response, other customers have been absorbing my time.

To recreate the issue I would have to wait for another 2 weeks as that scheduled job only runs once a month, I intend to see if I can modify the user account it is set to run as before then on another system. If I cannot then I'll update and test as requested.

Cheers
