TMP TEMP folders

Thread needs solution

I moved my TMP and TEMP folders to a seperate drive (NOT C)

if i ever try to restore my OS , which is on drive C, could the missing TMP and TEMP files be a problem?

Hello Acronis9843,

Thank you for posting. I will certainly help you with this.

Provided that you move those folders properly, from the Environment Variables menu in Windows, there will be no problem if these files are missing. Windows places an open program in its memory and creates a temporary file. Also, files in the recycle bin are also shown in the temp folder.

Once you restore your OS, the temp folder will be in a new location, just the way you set it up prior to the backup.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.

Thanks,

So windows will just move the TMP and TEMP folders , when it cannot find them?

Hello again, Acronis9843,

If we consider a scenario, where you restore only the C: drive while the Temp folder is on the D: drive you may have to reconfigure Temp folder location in Windows one more time.

If there is anything else I can do, please let me know.

Thank you.
