Upgraded PC to Windows 7 x64 and installation of Acronis Agent fails

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I've just upgraded my office PC to Win 7 x64 and halfway through installation of B&R 10 Agent I receive a message "Failed to install Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 components" and an Explorer window of the c:\windows\SysWOW64 folder opens up. When I click on "view error details" I get a box with 3 error codes and line tags and a message at the bottom saying "the system cannot find the file specified."

I have tried installation while in an admin level account and domain admin account to try to eliminate permissions issues, and am now not sure what to try next.

I've attached the log file...if anyone is able to shed any light on this for me I'd be very grateful thanks.

Thanks,

Matt

Hello Matthew,

Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our forum. I will do my best to assist you.

Unfortunately at the moment it is not clear, why this issue occurs. If you do not mind, I would like to contact you via a private message, so that we can clarify a few things.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Anton,

I having the same problem. What did you tell Matthew to fix the Windows 7 issue?

Glenn

Hello Glenn,

Thank you for posting.

I will definitely help you and provide you with the solution that I gave to Matthew, however, I would still recommend that we check your installation logs and Windows system information file before you use it. If you can send me a private message with these logs, it would be great.

By the way, there is also a possibility that the solution will not work and require additional investigation.

Here is what I sent to Matthew, it looks like there are some previous traces of our software present on his machine:

1. Press start, run and type cmd. In the command prompt, please issue this command to get rid of one of our services: sc delete AcronisAgent

2. Check this article and try the Solution part. Before attempting to re-install the software, (last point in the Solution section) disable Windows UAC.

Looking forward to hearing from, please let me know if you need additional assistance.

Thank you.

23 monthly back-ups with Acronis TI 9.0. Almost simultaneously, replaced XP computer with Windows 7 and original hard drive froze. Back-up on external hard drive. Cannot install TI 9.0 on new computer. Downloaded TI 2011 and cannot figure out whether it will or not retrieve data from TI 9 back-ups...and if so, how. Any thoughts? TIA.

I was using Acronis True Image 9.0 to backup my SONY Vaio laptop (292 MB disk) to an IOMEGA 500 GB (eGO) drive. When the 2 progress bars both reached 95% the program stopped incrementing the progress. Please suggest the right strategy to deal with this. Should I turn my PC power off? And if so, what then?

I will appreciate any suggestions because in the meantime my machine is hung and needs to be backed up.

Thanks,

Tycho

I forgot to mention that I am using Windows XP and that I was cloning the C: drive to the (external) IOMEGA USB drive.
