Upgrading drives in server with Perc6 controller. VMware Bank6 error.

Thread needs solution

I have a client server that we are planning on upgrading with bigger drives in the near future. Simple Mirror setup with 146Gig drives and we want to replace those with 600Gb drives for future expansion.

Server is running VMware ESX5i and is hosting 2 OSs based on Windows 2003server.

I am able to image both DISK images out to the portable drive. (They were imaged as Disks and not volumes)

I am also able to rewrite them back to the new Mirrored drives. (Also imaged recovered as disk and not volume)

But upon booting the new drives, I recieve an error saying:

"Bank6: Not a valid VMware Boot Bank:
No Hypervisor found

Any reason or trick to how I can do a straight disk to disk image of these mirrors?

Thanks

Also, I want to note we are using Acronis Backup and Recovery Advanced server.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for using Acronis Software.

If you are using Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Virtual Edition you should convert your imaged direct as new VM there. This should work and do not produce this error.

If you are using Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Advanced Server or Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Advanced Server SBS Edition, then you can restore your images, using Acronis Universal Restore, while creating new empty machines in ESX and boot via ISO Image there.

Or you convert your image into VMware Workstation and import these then into your ESX.

If you need any immediate assistance, then please contact our Acronis Support team. More information here.

If there is anything else, we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
