How to send Email alerts on failure only

Thread needs solution

I have multiple clients who use VMProtect.  I want to setup Email notification and receive an Email alert any time there is a failure only.  Currently it will send an Email if there is a failure OR success.

I have the following options (un)checked:

Send e-mail notifications

  • When backup completes successfully - Unchecked
  • When backup fails - Checked
  • Add full log to the notification - (tried both) Checked, and Unchecked.

Why am I still receiving Email alerts when my backups complete successfully?

Hi Terrell,

I have just checked the latest released build of Acronis Backup for VMware (former vmProtect) #10571 and it seems to work properly - the notifications are sent only upon failure of the task and are not sent on successful backup completion in accordance with the checkboxes. What I can guess is that your clients are setting up e-mail notifications under Configure->Backup Options->E-mail notifications and try "Apply to all tasks" option thereafter. There is a known issue that e-mail notification settings from default backup settings are not properly applied to existing backup tasks - the tasks have to be edited and backup options must be adjusted for each particular backup task instead. Probably this is the reason for such behavior, if not then please contact our support team for further assistance.

Thank you.

I will give this solution a shot.  It does indeed seem to fit our situation here.

Thanks for the quick reply.
