Keep getting the same errors on Backups
Trying to backup 3 Exchange 2010 mailbox database servers. I get the same error every time:

When the option to truncate transaction logs is checked the following happens: there is a COM object registered inside the guest OS which processes the logs truncation. In order to register this COM object the VMware Snapshot Provider service must be temporarily stopped and that's where the failure occurs in your case: "Failed to stop the VMware Snapshot Provider service." error. Can you please clarify whether this service can be manually stopped within the VM? This can also be a temporary problem with the service (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms833805.aspx ). I'd first of all tried restarting this service and then re-trying the backup operation to see if it fixes the problem.

The error occurs sporadically. It occurred again on Monday but not again since. We run our exchange backups every 12 hours. so far so good....
Do you have a solution for this Problem ?
In my case the same problem occurs.
Only sporadically the backup failed with the above error (VMProtect8 and Server 2008 with Exchange 2010)
Any ideas ?
So far it has not occurred again for me since my last post. keeping my fingers crossed and knocking on lots of wood. I have tested restore and it is functioning as well.
I'm having the same issue on my server 2008 x64 and exchange 2007 installation. This problem occurs about 1 in 7 times the exchange aware backup process runs.
