no access to Web-Interface and failed loading vCenter Plugin.

Thread needs solution

Hello,

because the vCenter Plugin doesnt load anymore we did a reboot of the appliance.

After that we got the following error message:
Loading, please wait...
/sbin/devd: error while loading shared libraries: libgcc_s.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

And we are not able login into web-interface anymore.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter,

The message you quoted is a normal one actually - it appears in any case when appliance boots up (it's just a message from Linux boot process). The appliance should be able to boot further up to GUI stage. If this doesn't happen try disconnecting (edit appliance VM settings in vSphere client and remove this disk from inventory, but not from datastore) the locally attached storage from the appliance (the disk which you connected to it to serve as backup repository, if you did that of course) and then follow the recommendations from http://kb.acronis.com/content/32819 article.

Thank you.

Hello Vasily,

the Appliance is working again, thanks for your help. But now again one of my tasks is invalid:

Btw: Is there a reason not switching to the windows agent? It is a bit annoying the appliance crashes every few months.

Hi Peter,

The last error indicates the particular task corruption - it needs to be recreated from scratch (delete the current one and create a new one with the same parameters). Most likely that happened due to previous crash. What concerns the appliance crashes - we are carefully investigating each such case and from what I could see most of the reasons are already fixed (we are confirming it by providing new pre-release builds of vmProtect 9 in some cases). Acronis vmProtect 9 Beta program is pending to start out soon and it contains all these fixes (for growing /var/log/messages + wcs.log + usual logs issues).

The appliance has main advantage that it can perform hot-plug backup by attaching the backed up disks to itself and reading the data directly. Hotplug is typically the fastest method of the backup. Windows Agent on the other side can be configured to back up in direct SAN-access mode which is approximately as fast as hotplug one, but it requires a separate physical machine to be set up + datastore LUNs (iSCSI/SAN) connected to this Windows machine, so that the disks can be read from SAN directly.

Thank you.
