restore procedure exchange 2010
ok besides the fact it fails the backup, when you try to restore it tries to start a VM, and this mostly goes wrong. it keeps waiting.. and then i need to stop the vm unmount the nfs mount and it seems a bit buggy....

same here. it takes a while indeed. it waits for exchange to boot up, i think because the network inside the vm is disconnected and the Vm tries to connect to AD or something that it takes so long.
snippet removed.. was incorrect.. now corrected[/u]
Ralph: i have not tested the exchange restore on the latest build of Vmprotect, when you restore an items.. did you then only the single item in the restore or the complete mailbox (as i had with the previous version when i restored 1 email)

PS: when you start an exchange recover task it waits on the screen. but as i see when you leave the page it will also leve the vm there.. would this then not be better to be a task you can return too?

I had this issue (never reaching 100%) with Initial release of vmProtect 7. It fixed itself when I
Installed the newer version 7 5155
STEPS:
- I installed it 5155 as a Fresh install rather than an upgrade
- I then Created a "NEW" Backup job from scratch.
I can't comment on whether it required all of the above, however they are the steps I took prior to testing again. It worked and I was happy with that.
I can say original release never worked at all for me and many a frustrating hour was had.

Hi Jan,
I'll try all scenarios of exchange restore the next few days.
As I noticed, the temporary exchange machine vmProtect creates comes with just 1 GB of ram and all services disabled.
I could log on with a domain admins account (as there is the accounts local profile present on the machine), and found really all services disabled, even the Information Store Service. Perhaps I should read the products documentation to find out, whats happening inside ;-)
Kind Regards
Ralph
