Shutdown VM before Backup and start VM after Backup

Thread needs solution

Hi at all,

is it possible to configure a shutdown over the guest (Windows) to stop the maschine before acronis run the Backup und to power on the maschine after the backup.

My Problem is a passtrough of a pci passtrough of an sas storage, what i need to distribute vom this server. VMware says it is disabling snapshot because of using pci passtrough.
After configuring the passtrough i can not backup my vm over vmprotect because of this reason written above.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Tobias

Hi Tobias,

There is no built-in capability to run pre-post commands in the current version of Acronis Backup for VMware (we have plans for this feature for the next version), so the power-on/power-off events should be triggered from outside via .ps scripts for example as described in http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/1793-powershell-script-to-s… . Note that you'll need to watch the schedule carefully (like stop VMs 5 minutes before the backup schedule and 10 minutes after it is supposed to finish).

Thank you.
