Failed backup recovery - desperate for help here.
Hi folks, I've got a "failed backup" (Family Photos) that has written approximately 120GB of data to the backup device, but when I try to recover it, Acronis refuses to open the file.
I know that at least SOME of the data is there, but frustratingly unable to get to it.
Anybody got any ideas on how I can recover the files?

* Also, no compression or encryption of files

Unfortunately the activity log is empty. Try downloading again or copy the contents of the activity message to a new file. Can't really offer pointers without that.
If the backup failed you won't be able to do anything with that partial backup file. It doesn't work in a way that you can recover some of the files that it had already backed up. Do you have another backup to recover from?

Could you explain WHY it can't be descrambled from the partial backups? I have to say I find it very disappointing that a lot of money is spent on the product, and it turns out to be not at all resilient.

the issue here is that Acronis doesn't just copy the data as is, the data is stored in the proprietary archive format. Therefore, if the archive is corrupted, we usually cannot extract data from it. Please check out the following article 1517: Troubleshooting Issues with Corrupt Backups
