Acronis Bootable Media (Windows PE 64 Bit) - LTO-5 Tape Drive Drivers

Thread needs solution

Hi there!

I was setting up a bootable USB stick drive with Acronis Bootable Media (Windows PE 64 Bit).
But somehow, our LTO-5 tape drive can't be used correctly with Acronis Bootable Media: The tape drive and even the tape is recognized but it doesn't show any backups on it - even though there are backups on the tape.
I searched for some logfiles and somwhere there was an information that Acronis Bootable Media needs drivers for the tape drive to use it correctly. So I went through the whole process of creating the bootable USB stick again and added in this process some drivers I found. You find them by googling "IBMTape_x64_w16_6266 for Windows 2016" on the IBM website (I'm not allowed to post hyperlinks...)

I added those IBMTape.x64_w16_6266 drivers which includes drivers for a lot of lto-drives (see attached screenshot no. 1) - that worked even though the drivers are for Windows Server '16.
But somehow I still can't use my LTO-5 drive with Acronis Bootable Media.

Here are some additional informations:
OS: Windows Server 2019
LTO-Drive: IBM ULTRIUM-HH5 SCSI (see attached screenshot no. 2)

My question is: which lto-5 tape drive drivers do I have to add while creating the bootable media? Which are the correct drivers for Windows PE 64 Bit?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance!

Hello Mathias,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

My question is: which lto-5 tape drive drivers do I have to add while creating the bootable media? Which are the correct drivers for Windows PE 64 Bit?

I recommend that you consult with the LTO manufacturer. However, the IBM Ultrium HH5 tape drive looks like the most suitable one.

I also recommend that you follow the Preparation part of this KB article: https://kb.acronis.com/content/35681
