Validation plan not working (checksum&RunVM)

Thread needs solution

We've created a new validation plan for one specific back-up to check the checksum of the latest backup and also validating the backup with a Run Virtual Machine... but this doesn't work! .. Checksum fails with "Task timeout expired" and the Run Virtual Machine check just hangs, I waited for more the 24 hours and finally canceled the plan.

Anyone else with the same problems?

Hi!

Thank you for your posting! To clarify, are you using Acronis Cyber Protect 15 or Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud (solution for services providers) here?

I see a similar issue documented for Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud70574: Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud: Off-host data processing plans fail with "Task timeout expired. The agent that is responsible for processing the task is not accessible"

For the issue with "Run VM from backup", I'd recommend opening a support ticket, so that our engineers can look into the operation log and check what happens when the task hangs.

Hi Ekaterina,

We are using Acronis Cyber Protect 15 (onprem). We already created a ticket for support case, so I will wait until they respond. To my knowledge validation plans are only available in the Acronis Cyber Protect 15 and not in the cloud version?

Kind regards,

Edwin

I may have found the culprit, the validation plan runs on an agent with no assigned license.
This is a Windows host with Hyper-V installed ... we use this machine for testing purposes and restore tests (RunVM via recovery).
This works great but it looks like the validation plan needs a valid license ... I just created a new validation plan on another host with license assigned and then it runs fine.
But why isn't it possible to run a validation job on an agent with no license assigned? ... I could run this on the Hyper-V host with the assigned license but this host is in production and validation is CPU intensive so this would impact performance.

Hi!

Sorry for the delayed response! Yes, all operations with the backups performed by the Agent require a license assigned. You can use the Off-host data processing to split the backup and other operations for better load management. For this, an Advanced license is required, please refer to the table in https://kb.acronis.com/content/65304
