Download C2C backups to be investigated by the local authorities.

Thread needs solution

The partner was requested by the authorities, to freeze all backups of a certain customer, as they are under investigation. 
 

The partner was requested to recover all 365 backups to an external media, to be investigated by the authorities.

Downloading the backups using the steps provided in the KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/56070 may work but the backups may not be useful.

Is there any solution I can give to the partner to resolve this issue?

Hello Matthew.

Did you tried to check:  Its backups (if any exists) can be found at Backup Storage > Cloud applications backups  and try to download them from there?

The KB provided is referring to a locally hosted 365 agent, however, the agent being used by the customer is the C2C agent. 

As the authorities only need access to the e-mail backups the partner may need to download each mailbox as PST a file

So the customer mentioned that they do in fact need all 365 backups to be downloaded to hand over to the authorities.

They have managed to download all the mailboxes S PST files however they still require a method to download Teams backups as well as OneDrive storage backups.

Your assistance with this will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Matthew. Thanks for the details.

The issue is that apart of downloading those mailboxes there's not much he can do since the agent is cloud based and that C2C is mostly made to recovery directly in the organization.

They can try also the web restore: https://kb.acronis.com/content/60087 ( there is the limitation of 100MB BUT sometimes it works even if it's not the appropriate method ).

If that doesn't work for them the last alternative is the large scale recovery, if they really need it they should give it a try: https://kb.acronis.com/content/56070.

That issue they reported is strange because why the authorities need those files if they can access them from metadata? Imagine you have a PC and the outlook/onedrive or anything else is installed in there, just with the disk it's possible to collect certain things from metadata.
