Feature Request - Automatic Agent Update

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I would like to see an option to be able to have the agents automatically update themselves.

Having to go into each customers portal and update the agent manually is a real pain, be even worse if we are to move all our 250+ customers over to Acronis. So far we have about 30, which is time consuming enough!

David, thank you for sharing your request here! I've registered it as a vote for the existing project RM-327 Auto-update for agent.

I second this vote. Have the option to update all agents automatically and notify you if any agents failed to update on any servers.

 

Also, allow setting a time for updates to happen. For example, on cPanel servers, the cPanel updates start around 1 AM in the morning by default and so it wouldn't be a good idea to update the agents at the same time.

 

The cPanel updates can take up to 30 minutes to complete on busy servers. So it would be good if we can set Acronis agents to update say 3 AM/4 AM.

Any updates on this? We have over 100 customer tenants, and this is an extreme pain to not ether set to auto update, or to be able to trigger it for all clients.

Many of our partners using Acronis Cyber/Backup Cloud (at least 5 I spoke with these last weeks) are requesting this feature.

Can we actually see this "RM-327 Auto-update for agent." request, it would be good to be able to direct our clients to this so they can register their votes too?

We have logged a vote based on your request to prioritize implementation of the feature.  Unfortunately, we cannot share an estimated date for the implementation of this feature. Absolutely dumbfounded this hasn't been implemented yet. It shouldn't need votes, it should be done as a priority.

Stuart, sorry to know about the inconveniences caused - passed your feedback to the product team.  I'd also advise discussing the issue with your account manager, so that my colleagues have better understanding of the situation and help in prioritizing the new features. 

The product team don't seem to be listening. They never listen. They just want to do what they want to do and couldn't give a stuff about what their customers want.

Take this issue for example. To move a customer, delete the customer and all their backup jobs and start from scratch. That is legitimately what the knowledge base article says.

A better understanding of the situation? If your colleagues can't understand the situation from reading the OP, they might be better off looking for another job. It is pretty clear.

Auto-update for agents

  • New agent auto-update functionality allows an MSP technician to keep agents on the latest version, without any manual operations.
  • A partner or customer administrator can set agent auto-update configuration for customers, units, or individual machines.
  • Administrators can set a maintenance window when agents can be updated and select the version of the agent to be installed.
  • Supported operating systems: Windows, Linux, macOS. Agent for VMware (Virtual Appliance) support is planned for future versions.
  • Auto-update does not support the current version of agents, thus update agents to the new version should be done by using the agent update procedure.

sorry for not being clear here - I meant it's always recommended to discuss the ongoing issues and concerns with the dedicated account manager, who would be better placed to help.

How are you using it George_Fusioned  ? Update all automatically when? Or are you still testing it?

Yes, I have configured all agents to automatically upgrade to the latest "current" version.
