Error 0x1480008 cannot get file kernet64.dat

Thread needs solution

Hello

I have Acronis Backup 2021. I would like to restore a systemdrive from an USB HD.

I get following error: Error 0x1480008 cannot get file kernet64.dat

I have also tried to boot with an USB Stick.

Do you have a hint

Regards

Sorry but much more information is needed in order to understand the issue here and try to help you?

What type of computer is involved here?  Desktop / tower PC or Laptop / notebook?

What type of internal system drive?  SATA HDD, PCIe type card drive, i.e. NVMe SSD?

What type of rescue media are you using?

For the ATI 2018 & later version rescue media, there are 3 different versions available:
Simple:  created based on your Windows Recovery Environment for WinPE media.
Advanced: created based on Windows ADK (or AIK for earlier OS versions) - WinPE media.
Advanced: created based on a small Linux distro OS (BusyBox) or created from the .ISO CD image download from your Acronis Account page.

Note: any recovery started from the Windows Acronis GUI will also restart into a Linux OS environment.

The recommended method for doing any recovery is to create the 'Simple' WinPE version of rescue media which should include any required device driver support.  This needs to be used to boot the computer in the same BIOS boot mode as used by the installed Windows OS.  You can check the BIOS boot mode by running the msinfo32 command in Windows - see BIOS mode shown in the right panel, which will show UEFI or Legacy (or the OS disk drive make).

See KB 65508: Acronis True Image 2021: how to create bootable media and KB 59877: Acronis True Image: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media

Hello Steve

Thank you for your reply

The computer is a laptop HP

The drive is NVMe SSD

The BIOS is UEFI

The rescue media is done by Acronis with the menu you are providing on the USB.

Then I choose the USB-Drive where the Acronis Backup is and run the restore.

I have heard the KB5017271 makes some difficulties.
