File naming

Thread needs solution

When I create a single version scheme backup to backup to an external hard drive, the first backup ends up with the name I gave it (for instance backup) and it shown the correct size.  The next time it does a backup the original backup name is still there but the size is 12kb and the new backup is the backup-0001, then the next backup deletes that file and is shown as backup-0002.  Since this is a single version scheme, why is it doing this?  The older versions of True Image deleted the old image and kept the same name.  I don't see any way to change the setting.  Does the image need the two files in order to do a restore?

Ron, the behaviour for file naming as you describe above is correct for how Acronis now handles .TIBX files and the 12kb .TIBX file contains metadata that is important to the backup which will be reported as being corrupt if that small file is deleted!

See the following KB documents published by Acronis with regards to .tibx files.
