How to read a .TIB file if your PC crashes

Thread solved

I have always done backups utilizing a disk "mirror" scheme with other products.  What I like about that method is the data in the backup is unencrypted and looks identical to what it does on the source location.  Therefore I know that I could use it if I ever needed it.

However, I'm considering switching to Acronis cyber protect home office and utilizing a differential scheme.  This might seem like a really stupid question but if my PC dies and I lose the Acronis application how do I read the data in files that look like ed_full_b1_s1_v1.tib?

My home network consist of three PCs and two NAS devices. (16TB each)   I plan on backing up one NAS to the other as I do now with my mirroring software but with Acronis.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Ed,

Welcome to the forum!

Please refer to the following KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/63240 (How to restore files in File Explorer).

Please note that you need to execute that on a device where a backup agent is installed in order to open the .tib/.tibx files.

You can also recover the entire backup with the B.media if the machine crashes: https://kb.acronis.com/content/69427.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Ed,

You mention you have two 16TB NAS devices and your intended use case is to backup one NAS to the other.  You should verify that these devices filesystems are compatible with Acronis.  If not then you will likely need a different application.

Thank you both for responding. I have not figured out how to respond to an answer to my post so I'm just adding to my post here. @Enchantech yes, Acronis is compatible with my Western Digital NAS drives.  In fact it's the backup that they recommend.
