PC died after cloning ?

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

I recently bought a PSY CS900 1TB so I could have more storage on my PC. I plugged the PSY and assigned it to drive D. I installed Acronis and wanted a backup or so I thought. I left the cloning run for 2 hours and came back and now my PC won't even start.

Is my PC dead and is there any way to retrieve my drive ?

Please help with any input.

Thanks !

Hello Andre!

Welcome to the forum.

  1. Check Connections: Ensure that all the connections between your PC, the new PSY CS900 drive, and any other storage devices are secure. Sometimes, loose connections can cause boot issues.

  2. Disconnect External Drives: If you have any other external drives or storage devices connected to your PC (besides the PSY CS900), try disconnecting them and see if it helps your PC to start up properly.

  3. Boot from Original Drive: If you haven't removed the original drive from your PC, try booting from it. Disconnect the PSY CS900 and see if your PC starts normally. If it does, then there might have been an issue with the cloning process.

  4. Check BIOS Settings: Make sure that your PC's BIOS is set to boot from the correct drive (the one with the operating system). Sometimes, cloning processes can change the boot order, causing boot problems.

  5. Try Safe Mode: If your PC is having trouble starting up, try booting into Safe Mode. This can help identify if the issue is related to a driver or software problem.

Regarding retrieving your drive, if the PSY CS900 contains valuable data, you could try the following steps:

  • Remove the PSY CS900 drive from your PC and connect it to another computer as an external drive using a SATA-to-USB adapter or an external enclosure.
  • Check if the drive is recognized on the other computer. If it is, you may be able to access your data and back it up.

These are general troubleshooting tips because the issue you described is unclear. I also see you have a OEM version. Please contact the provider in order to receive appropriate support for the issue as we don't support or manage those versions: https://kb.acronis.com/content/2201?ckattempt=1

Thanks in advance!
