The programmers, rarely if ever frequent the forum. You are more likely to get something done if you use the in-application feedback or raise a support request.

The behaviour of some programs fit the those of malware. It is possible that some programs are in a whitelist, but it would be particular builds with specified hash. You can whitelist individual programs to prevent this from happening, have you attempted to do so - you may need to do so whenever the program is updated.

I had this occour when steam was trying to install some sort of anti-cheat components (as far as I could tell). The only solution was to add the entire steam directory.

I think the temp folder also had to be added because each time steam attempted this update it would write a <somerandomnumbers>.tmp file which would be put into quarantine. Because the tmp file was different each time, adding those to exclusions didn't help.

After this update was successfully done I removed both exclusions, and haven't had this problem again.

Hello Michael.

Thank you for participating.

Peter is right, the entire directory must be added to the exclusions.

If the issue persists after we have to follow this process in order to troubleshoot the issue.

Please contact our support (https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153) with the evidential proofs our software is blocking the entire steam directory ( if you excluded from analysis. Note: this is a most, you need to exclude the entire directory in the backup plan ) and the system report of the machine https://kb.acronis.com/content/69418

Hope this helps!

Let me be very clear with this!

You made me problems over months....That is enought! I canceled my abo. I am not willling to use your program any more. It is a very bad joke of you, to let your programm really destroy my steam app. This is idioty. In the Year 2022/23 it should be very clear that Steam is definitly no virus.
