acpho losing schedule settings

Thread solved

Just notices on several totally different accounts for different pc's a few are losing schedule settings for both local and cloud backps.

if i set the schedule to "wake sleeping", it removes that check and THEN it also checks "run on next startup." even if I have that unchecked.

It does this both in the main scheduling screen and also under validation scheduling in advanced.  Not every backup affected, but a half dozen noticed so far... i will be checking more in the near future!

one more thing.. just on 1pc, so maybe it isn't a thing.. the schedule was changed to "not scheduled", but weirdly it was still running according to schedule.

buggy.  Anyone else seeing the same things?

sorry I should have said "wake up sleeping/hibernating" checked gets unchecked.  And an unchecked "run missed operations.." gets checked!  It's like the check marke gets moved down

uh, oh, on cloud backups it changes the cleanup # 's as well.  i had it set to 45 versions and 3 months.  And it changed it to 20version and 6 months.. which I think is back to default. This is not good.

Hi Joe, looks like you are the victim of the problem reported in this thread. You should contact Acronis support and contact the APHO product manager Arpita Ghosharpita.ghosh@acronis.com.

Ian

Thanks Ian,

The other thread was helpful.  Here is acronis's kb on the cause/fix:

https://kb.acronis.com/content/70766

.. now to go to 50 machines and redo backup settings...

This highlights another sqabble I have with the acronis design.  The cloud settings are too powerful (should be more computer centric authority).. they allow you to bypass any encryption on backups... you can encrypt your current backup set, but if someone has access to the cloud account, they can configure a new backup remotely of your pc with encryption disabled.   Worse... if a family member opens acronis on their pc, clicks on account, it logs them into the acronis web WITHOUT any password where they can then create a fresh, uncrypted remote backup of any other computer on the account.  Thusly encryption is a joke between any computers on the same account even without a passowrd, or, slighly less concerning  for anyone accessing the web login.  Concerning that the web console login is the same as the forum login.. aren't forum login passwords frequently hacked in the world of forums?

btw,

after changing settings they DID seem to stick.  UNTIL... I clicked to update to the latest achpo desktop version as it was prompting to do so.  THEN it erased some of the scheduling settings and cleanup.  I put them back and it is sticking again.. for now.

Joe, may I suggest you save the backup settings just in case something similar happens in future. Go into settings and look at bottom section (backup settings transfer). The name is deceptive, as it can be used to recover settings on the same machine.

May I suggest that you investigate Acronis Cyber Protect 15 which allows centralised control of multiple systems - although it is a much more expensive. I thinks there is also a version without the Cyber Protect that is a backup solution - I did not know that the latter was available until I found a comparison while looking for something else on the Acronis www site. This assumes that all the computers are for the same organisation rather than you dealing with multiple clients.

Ian

Thanks Ian, that is interesting, but the price point begins to not be as good as competitors when moving to the more expensive acronis products.   I like the concept of acronis acpho (minus av), just has a few recent wrinkles.
