Can't recover full backup from NAS in 2021

Thread needs solution

I have a full backup that I am trying to recover from my NAS, using my Acronis 2021 recovery cd. I have the laptop connected to my network router via cable, but cannot see the NAS. I have also tried connecting directly to the NAS via cable, with the same result.

Seems that my version 2021 is out of support, and I cannot find anything of help in the FAQs area. Would appreciate any assistance with this.

Christopher, the first check point for this type of recovery is to determine that your laptop has been given a valid IP address and that you can ping the NAS on your network.

Which type of rescue media are you using / was used to create the recovery CD being used?

For the ATI 2018 & later version rescue media, there are 3 different versions available:
Simple:  created based on your Windows Recovery Environment for WinPE media.
Advanced: created based on Windows ADK (or AIK for earlier OS versions) - WinPE media.
Advanced: created based on a small Linux distro OS (BusyBox) or created from the .ISO CD image download from your Acronis Account page.

Of the above, the 'Simple' version is the best option as it will include device drivers for your laptop network adapter taken from the WinRE data.

If you are using a Linux based rescue CD, then click on Network Options and check that it shows you have a valid IP address within the same network as the NAS.

The above image was captured from ATI Linux media booting a VMware VM.

Once you confirm a valid IP address, then click on Recover, then on the Browse button and type in the IP address of your NAS in the format //192.168.0.29 then any folder path and press Enter to bring up a credentials prompt for access.

Some further images from one of my VM's booted from ATI 2021 Linux based rescue media (.ISO file) showing a connection to my own NAS.

Thank you for the assistance.

I am using a Windows generated boot cd, from Acronis 2021. I can now access my NAS, but am unable to authenticate via Acronis. I know the username and password are correct because I can connect to the NAS from other devices, but when I test the connection to make a connection in Acronis authentification fails.

I am rather frustrated, and have no idea how to proceed.

Christopher, you may need to qualify your credentials for accessing the NAS, i.e. prefix it with other details.

See KB 1551: Acronis Bootable Media Recovery Wizard Keeps Asking for User Name and Password When Trying to Restore an Image from a Network Share - which speaks to this but doesn't give any real examples!
