Frustrated using "Cyber" to restore images created with older versions of True Image

Thread needs solution

I have a 2 TIB file backup of W7 computer, created with older versions of Acronis, that I cannot get to restore with this latest version of Acronis.

I even check the Validate Archive button before the restore, it says "Validation Succeeded" and 2/3rds the ay thru I get the attached message.

Please Help!

Rick, welcome to these public User Forums.

First comment is that a 2 TB backup image is extremely large and potentially could contain multiple different disk drives that you could restore as separate operations.

Next, validation does not mean that the backup content is good if there were issues in that content at the time of the backup!

Validation does not guarantee that a backup file will result in a successful, working recovery!

What validation does do is to confirm that the backup file that was created by the backup operation has not been changed after it was written to the storage drive / location.  It does this by reading the backup TIB / TIBX file and calculating checksum values for each block of the file then comparing those checksums with values embedded within the file.  It the checksums match, then the file has not been changed since written.

What validation cannot do is to change whether any malware, virus or corruption was present in the source data for the backup operation when it was performed.  This can also include file system issues present when a backup was created but not detected or known about.

Final comment: what exactly are you doing here and how?  Are you booting from Acronis rescue media to do the restore?

Rick, please clarify if the error message is displayed when doing the validation or when doing the recovery; if the latter, what happens if you click on "ignore"?

As far as I can workout the manifest file has something to do with Widows update, so there may be a problem that will need to be addressed later if you successfully restore the image.
