Problems with booting windows due to Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I hope someone could help me with this problem.
One of our customers uses Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office for back ups.

He told us Acronis did an update and know his PC keeps booting to Acronis before Windows can boot.
When he remove the External HDD where he does his backups on it will boot to Windows.
He makes backups with the Desktop app so the Acronis Boot is unnecessary and anoying.

I've tried to turn this function off but i cant find it anywhere.
Also i didn't find any bootfiles on the HDD it self.

How can we leave the HDD attached to the PC without booting to that Acronis Backup manager?

If anyone as advice that would be great!

Thanks in advance.

Mike, welcome to these public User Forums.

From the description above, your customer has created an Acronis Survival Kit bootable partition on the external HDD and his BIOS boot settings are configured to boot from that drive ahead of booting from Windows.

The only options for resolving this issue are:

Change the BIOS boot settings to move the 'Windows Boot Manager' (for UEFI Boot systems) to be the first option (or change the OS drive for Legacy boot systems).

Remove the survival kit partition from the external HDD by using a partition manager tool.

Leave the external HDD disconnected until after Windows has booted.

Have your customer shutdown the PC.  After shutdown, detach the external drive.  Startup the PC and allow Windows to boot, this will reset the boot order so that Windows boots first.  After Windows is booted reattach the external drive.
