Validation of Backup

Thread solved

I use this product for my extensive Photography programs and images.  I have three (3) levels of backup - a. 3+TB of programs and images; b. the normal <C> drive of OS + documents and business programs, no games; c. a small amount of data within <C> that supports my Adobe programs for organization and editing.

My Question?  When a. and b. backup the processes are not finished until the backups are Validated.  When I backup c. to the Cloud, it is a 3 minute backup of ~250 MB but no Validation.  I looked in Options and Advance but saw no indication that I can add a Validation Process.  Is this normal activity on the part of this small backup to the Acronis Cloud?

Harvey, welcome to these public User Forums.

Validation is only relevant for local backups stored on internal, external or network drives - it is not used for backups to the Acronis Cloud therefore no option is offered for it.

To put this in context, validation is a method of ensuring that data written to a disk file remains unchanged on the destination disk.  It does this by reading the file back and recalculating checksums for each block of the file then comparing these with values embedded within the file - if the checksum values match, the file is valid / unchanged from when written, otherwise it is reported as being corrupt.

Backup data stored in the cloud are not stored in the same way as those on a local disk drive and other protections are in place for managing the integrity of data uploaded to the servers.
