Which cloning protocol to use

Thread needs solution

When cloning a drive using Cyber Protect Home Office, is it best to create a clone "To replace a disc on this machine" or or "to use on another machine"?

And, which method, cloning or back up, is best for use in creating a bootable drive in the event of failure of C: drive... which contains OS and other applications which load with system boot.

Mark, welcome to these public User Forums.

You should only use the option to 'replace a disc on this machine' if you are going to do that action - the reason being that Acronis will modify the system in preparation for the cloned target disc being installed!

If you are just wanting to make a duplicate 'clone' copy of the PC OS boot drive, then use the alternative option to 'use on another machine' so that the working, original drive settings are left untouched.

Note: please understand that the cloned disc will only be bootable when actually installed in the PC - it will not be bootable if connected as an external USB drive (this is a Microsoft limitation imposed on Windows to prevent piracy etc).
