Windows 11 Virus Protection Does Not See ACPHO

Thread solved

My two Windows 11 PC's were both affected by the recently reported problems caused by Acronis where backup destinations and backup schedules were autonomously changed. I have implemented the recommended fixes and, except for one remaining problem, the operation of ACPHO is back to normal on both PC's.

The remaining problem is that now one of the two PCs (PC-A) does not show that ACPHO is providing protection. The other PC (PC-B) still shows that ACPHO is providing protection in the usual way. PC-A does not list ACPHO as a service provider in the Windows setting: Virus & threat protection > Who's protecting me? > Manage providers.

In my initial attempt to fix the problems caused by Acronis, I ran an installation repair on PC-A. That is the only difference in how the two PC's have been handled.

On PC-A:

I have tried stopping protection in the ACPHO settings, rebooting, and restarting protection in the ACPHO settings.

I have tried turning off Real-time protection in the Windows Virus & threat protection settings, rebooting, and restarting Real-time protection.

Nothing has fixed the problem. Any suggestions?

Have you tried a PC shutdown then restart?  Many network issues can be fixed by doing so.

Enchantech, thank you for the suggestion - it worked. I first tried your suggestion exactly as written, but that did not work. Following my intuition, I next tried a slight modification:

1) Run a repair operation from the downloaded ACPHO installation file, but do not select to start the application on the last screen. Simply close the screen.

2) Shutdown (power off) the computer.

3) Restart the computer via the power button.

Now the subject PC does again show that ACPHO is providing protection. ACPHO is again listed as a service provider in the Windows setting: Virus & threat protection > Who's protecting me? > Manage providers.

Great news Bill.  Glad you got it sorted.  Not sure why the repair install needed to be run but it is good to know that was the magic sauce so to speak!
