Acronis OS Selector (loader) problem with Windows 7

Thread needs solution

So, I have Acronis Disk Director 11 Home and Acronis OS Selector installed on Windows 7 (Home Premium). Today, when I tried to boot Windows, the following message appeared:

Starting Acronis Loader...
No commands for booting operating system. Press to reboot...

I've read that there is a problem with MBR files an that you can replace them with ISO file or you can boot Windows with setup CD and then type in fixmbr command. The problem is that those instructions are all based on Windows XP, not on Windows 7, so I don't really know what to do.

Can you give me some advice?

With a Windows 7 DVD you would select to Repair the computer, cancel any automatic repairs and then start the Command Prompt. The command you want to run is: bootrec /fixmbr

You can also reinstall/reactivate OSS by booting to the DD CD and selecting that option. Note that if you repair the MBR with the Windows 7 DVD and want to continue using OSS, you will still need to reinstall/reactivate OSS. In many cases, OSS just needs reactivated.

I would prefer to use the Windows 7 DVD. Ok, so I boot from the DVD and what should I do now (could you explain me that procedure a little more detailed?)? I'm also concerned that I will lose all of my data on a computer if I do that. Is this method safe?

You can find a sample of the screens you'll see at this link. Please note that the screens can be a little different depending on what the DVD finds. You can start the process and post back if you run into a problem or have a question (just let me know which screen you're on). I'll be around for a while yet.

The procedure is very safe. However, if you are concerned with possible data loss, it's highly recommended that you create an Entire Disk Image backup. I would recommend this even if you are having no problems. It's always good to have a backup.

When I insert my Windows DVD I have to set language and some other things. Is that OK?

Edit: I have figured it out already.

Yeah, it's working, thanks a lot MudCrab. Now I'll try to unistall OSS that I won't have those problems anymore.
