BartPE plugins or procedure changes for Disk Director Home 11?

Thread needs solution

Since Disk Director Home 11 is such a dramatically changed and improved upgrade from Disk Director 10, I'm wondering if there are any changes in the plugins and/or procedures for creating a bootable BartPE image for it. The instructions here: http://kb.acronis.com/content/1752 are specifically for Disk Director 10.  Is that exact same procedure correct for DD 11?  Are there any updated plugins for DD 11?

Unfortunately, Richard, your reply was irrelevant.  No one even mentioned Bart PE at all at either link!

Your lashing out against DD 11 is of no value to me, especially since my own extensive experience is overwhelmingly that DD 11 is far, far superior to DD 10.  I'm a 30-year veteran systems programmer, but I spent many months troubleshooting DD 10 problems with Acronis' top-tier support techs, including many hours with them working directly on my computer online, and we could never get DD 10 to work properly!   The developers promised to address my concerns in DD 11, and once it was released, it perfectly solved each and every problem I had with DD 10 right out of the gate.  DD 11 is incredibly good.

As for other PE's, the WinPE that DD 11 created worked perfectly, first time!  No files were missing at all.  I  just happen to prefer the Bart PE, which is why I  asked specifically about the Bart PE plugins and procedures.

So I repeat: I'm wondering if there are any changes in the plugins and/or procedures for creating a bootable BartPE image for DD 11. The instructions here: http://kb.acronis.com/content/1752 are specifically for Disk Director 10.  Is that exact same procedure correct for DD 11?  Are there any updated plugins for DD 11?

The full DD10 product was used for a BartPE, not a plugin. I used the information from the INF file referenced in the above KB article to set up the proper registry values in WinPE. I use DD10 in WinPE, and have no interest in DD11, so I can't tell you if the process is the same. I think DD10 and DD11 are different enough that what worked for DD10 would not work for DD11 under a BartPE build, but that is just a hunch. I don't have much experience with BartPE, since I prefer WinPE. Sorry to not be of more help.

Well, perhaps not totally irrelevant if one is aware that all PE1s, regardless of their authorship "brand names" like Bart PE, LiveXP, etc., are just preinstallation environments built on the basis of the Windows XP/2003 family core involving the same basic principles and limitations for various applications that may be included therein. But, as a 30-year veteran systems programmer, you already knew that, of course.

Anyhow, the "bottom line" should be clear enough. It is to be sure that the DD11 program component locations, including the drive letter, are explicitly specified in the registry when the preinstallation environment is booted. With LiveXP the solution is relatively straightforward using RegAddBoot as noted in my irrelevant comments. How you do that with your particular PE1 build is up to you, but DD11 insists on it and environment variables won't suffice.

You may want to look through some of these DD threads and find an Acronis person to send a PM to regarding this matter. I can well understand wanting to stay with a BartPE build, especially if you have some tools your are comfortable with on the build - it would make sense to just add DD11. Perhaps Acronis can provide the proper INF and XML files for the BartPE builder to use for DD11.

Thank you, Gary, for your genuine efforts to help me with this issue. I will try to bring this matter to the attention of Acronis support as you suggest.
