dd 11 : XP installed in IDE Mode: Can't find disks

Both dd 11 and ti 10 can't see hard drives when BIOS is set to IDE mode, which was a necessity when installing XP on an Asus p8p67. AHCI mode is not possible on this board.

Resetting the BIOS to AHCI mode allows ti to find disks.

Any thoughts about how to get ti and dd to see disks in ide mode would be appreciated.
