DD11 can not recognize ext4 partitions

Thread needs solution

When I bring up DD11 it does not recognize the ext4 partition types on my hard disks. It treats all ext4 partitions as "Not formatted". So naturally one can do nothing with these partitions, like back them up with DD11. Is there a fix for this ?

DD11 doesn't support Ext4 partitions.

The upcoming DD11 Advanced/Server version will.

I have other partitioning software that will allow me to copy ext4 partitions to a backup hard disk. I will use that and DD11 for everything else.

We cross that bridge when we come to it.

You can't use Disk Director for backup. You need True Image to make backups.

As of now, Ext4 is still not supported in Disk Director 11. But you can use True Image to make a backup of an Ext4 partition. Even if you encounter some odd file system from the time of the dinosaur computers of the 70-s that's not supported, you can still make a backup by using sector level backup (see here).
