DD11 Merge / Resize does not work

Thread needs solution

I have an ASUS N53S Laptop (core i7) with 16GB Ram and 640GB HDD running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. The disk is partitioned into three partitions:
1) 21GB hidden recovery partition (FAT32, Primary MBR)
2) (C:) 149 GB partition (NTFS, Primary MBR, avtive, bootable)
3) (D:) 425 GB partition (NTFS, logical, MBR)

First, I chose to merge C: and D: into a single partition. The system booted into DD11 and sat there on operation 2 of 2 for an hour with 0% progress. The hard drive light was on full (not blinking, just solid) The system had appeared to have frozen. I had no choice but to power off the machine. Surprisingly, the system booted into Windows but the operation had obviously not completed as I still had C: and D: partitions.

Second, I thought I would shrink D: and give C: all remaining space, therefore D: would be resized and moved. I could then copy the contents of D: to the larger C: and later delete D: and expand C:. Kind of manually doing a merge. The same thing happened - booted into DD11 and sat there on operation 2 of 2 for over an hour at 0% progress. Again, I had to power cycle the machine. Luckily I was able to get back into Windows.

Your product simply does not work as advertised and looks like many other people have had serious issues with this also. I bought the product primarily for the merge and resize features. I will give you guys an opportunity to respond before I demand a refund + compensation for lost business.

Same issue here.
I have an ASUS U7300 Laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. The disk is partitioned into three partitions:

1) (C:) 74.5 GB partition (NTFS, Primary MBR, avtive, bootable)
2) (D:) 208 GB partition (NTFS, logical, MBR)

I chose to merge C: and D: into a single partition. The system booted into DD11 and sat there on operation 2 of 2 for an hour with 0% progress. The hard drive light was on full (not blinking, just solid green) The system had appeared to have frozen. I had no choice but to power off the machine. Surprisingly, the system booted into Windows but the operation had obviously not completed as I still had C: and D: partitions.

I only bought the product to solve a partition situation, and it does not work, CAN YOU PLEASE fix it??????? otherwise I will request my full refund

ACRONIS Technical Support, Vikas Malik, did not help either....after waiting and explaining everything to them, he asked me to merge it normally, they do not care, or just are not paying attention on the request, or even worse just incompetent

I don't recommend using the Merge and Split features of DD (I recommend against using them). They can cause the complete loss of all data on the partitions (or drive) if they fail. It's much safer to use manual procedures (resizing and copying files).

If you need to perform procedures that require DD to reboot, it's recommended to boot to the DD CD (or flash drive) and do them instead of doing the reboot from Windows. This gives you more control and allows you to make sure DD can properly see everything before the procedure beings.

It's recommended to have a current Entire Disk Image backup of the drive before making partitioning changes (regardless of the software being used).

Same issue here.
I have an basic DELL Desktop running Windows XP SP3. The disk is partitioned into two partitions:

1) (C:) 40 GB partition (NTFS, Primary MBR, avtive, bootable)
2) (F:) 140 GB partition (NTFS, logical, MBR)

On four attemps, I chose to expand C: Partition larger to 80Gb from the F: Partition The system booted very briefly into DD11 and then started Windows normaly without any changes to the diska sizes.

I too bought the product to solve a partition situation, and it does not appear work.
Will attempt the same while booting from a DD CD instead.

Jake,

You were lucky, at least you did not lose anything....I LOST EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING....THE SOFTWARE DID NOT WORK....

I HAD SOME CONCERNS, I CALLED THE TECHNICAL SUPPORT EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS NOT WORKING, EXACTLY AS YOU DESCRIBED...THEIR ANSWER (VIKAS MALIK) WAS THAT I NEED TO DO IT SIMPLY...WHAT KIND OF ANSWER IS THAT...ANYWAY I TRIED ONCE AGAIN, AND AFTER I SETUP THE WAY I WANT THE PARTITIONS TO BE I PUSH ENTER, AS YOU KNOW THE COMPUTER NEEDS TO RESTART, WHEN HE BOOT BACK, FOR MY UNPLEASEANT SURPRISE I HAD NOTHING ON MY HARD DISK, NOTHING...THIS SOFTWARE IS NOT RELIABLE, AND CUSTOMER SERVICE NON EXISTENT...PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND AVOID PEOPLE TO GET SCAMMED.

I am sure that there are other good features of this product. The fact of the matter is that the merge feature just doesn't work and that I was unable to test the feature in the trial product. I was so annoyed that I vented on my blog .. more details can be found here on my blog along with a solution that worked for me (using a different product).

Cheers.
