Disk Director 12 will not start after installation

Thread needs solution

I have installed Disk Director 12 without any problems whatsoever but when I try to run the program Windows asks for approval and then nothing happens. The program never starts up. I check in Windows Task Manager and it is not running. It gives no indication of any kind of error.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Hello tvman8816,

Thank you for your posting! Are you installing the latest build 3270? To exclude any issues related to the anti-virus software and lack of privileges, I'd suggest the following flow:

1. Uninstall the current installation:
- via Program and Features (Start -> Control Panel) or uninstall the product using the EXE installation file: run the installation file and select the option Remove)
2. Download the latest build 3270 (here a direct link);
3. Temporary disable the anti-virus software installed on the PC, then right-click on the installation file and select Run as administrator

Important note: If you'd like to install Acronis Disk Director 12 and Acronis True Image 2017 on the same machine, install Acronis Disk Director 12 first and then Acronis True Image 2017, as Acronis True Image has more up to date modules, which can otherwise be overwritten by the same modules in Acronis Disk Director.

Thank you,

After you remove the program, run the cleanup tool as well - even though it's designed for other Acronis products, it won't hurt and has helped others with products like Snap Deploy (link down below).  Also, whenever you install any application, please right click and "run as adminisrator" even if you're logged with admin already - it's the only way to get full administrative access to some OS files/folders and/or registry keys and will help ensure that installations (or software removals) have the necesary access to make necessary changes.

As for the cleanup, take a look at my recommendation in this thread.  https://forum.acronis.com/forum/126092#comment-391779

If you follow it (with reboots and run the installer with the right-click and run as admin option)  I think you'll be in good shape, but do be sure that you have the latest version of DD12 when you go to install it again.
