Using 3TB HD with DD1

I have a couple of 3TB hard drives that I'd like to use with DD 11. These drives are formatted with 4096 bytes/sector and for some reason DD 11 doesn't support this.

1) Will DD support this in the future?

2) Can I partition the 3TB drives into two 1.5TB drives with 512 byte sectors?
