Volume Bit Map Error

Thread needs solution

When I do a disk check from Disk Director on a partition (C:) that has been processed by Diskeeper 2008 (MFT defragmented) I get the Volume Bitmap error run Chkdsk /f. When I run Chkdsk /f on a reboot of Vista Chkdsk does not find any errors. This is not a critical problem but it is a little annoying. This problem exists on several computers all of which run Diskeeper and have had the MFT defragmented at one time or another.

Hello Kenneth,

Thank you for using Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0

Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 doesn't have its own Check disk utility, it uses the Windows one. Actually, the mentioned behavior is related to the different results that were diagnosed by the same tool.

I would recommend you to perform  Chkdsk from Windows installation CD, this may help to get rid of these errors.

Please boot up from the Windows Bootable CD, then go to the Recovery Console and from the command prompt please type:

"chkdsk DISK: /r"

where DISK is the partition letter you need to check.

After that, please reboot your computer.

If this doesn't help, please download Acronis Report utility available here and run it, create a report and attach to your post.

This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

Thank you.
