Windows 10 Update

Thread needs solution

Now that Windows 10 has been officially released, is there any information on when Disk Director 12 will be updated for Win10 compatibility?

0 Users found this helpful

I am interested in a response to the same question. Will any answers be forth coming?

I have DD12 and it does not recognise the disk layout for Win10 x64 with GPT disk format on a SSD. It did work with the Tech preview with MBR.
I am interested in an update.

It certainly does not work with Dynamic disks (are they the same as GPT?) and update to resolve the issue would be good - but when...?

I am suffering from the same issue, DD12 does not recognise the disk layout for Win10 x64.. I sure hope there is an update SOON.

Using W10 I cannot enlarge partitions. There is missing something: errormessaging:
Everything I am doing in Disk Director ends with this message...
Who knows the solution?

I'm having some conflict between DD12 and ATI 2015 on windows 10 pro 64bit, had to remove both to get my backups working again.

I hope they can update it

I was a happy camper with Disk Director 12 and Windows 8.1 In late July, I upgraded to Windows 10. Disk Director 12 is not working in the Windows 10 environment. When will DD12 be compatible with Windows 10? It is too late to request my $$ back on the DD12 upgrade, so I hope Acronis supports this valuable DD12 product by making it compatible with the Windows 10 GPT environment.

Installed disk director in Windows 10 Pro X64. Installed DD12 v3223 which would not recognize any disks. Uninstalled DD12 and installed DD11 v2343. Uninstalled both and reinstalled 12. Same problem every time - "There are no items to show in this view." ATIH 2015 v6613 has no problem seeing all disks. Please advise where to get patch for DD12.

Guys and Gals, Win 10 support for DD12?
How about a post on your web site, either it is coming, coming soon, or it is not happening. You need to update your web site to have the latest news for customers almost as prominent as your pushy sales items on your site. Customer support for existing customers is everything because word of mouth will get you new customers. CEO, do you have a comment about Windows 10, how about prominently displaying that on your home page. Unless you are planning on screwing your existing customers over. Not any news and remaining silent till you have something to say is not acceptable. Maybe hey, Windows support, CEO promises support by October 1, 2015 for these products. Come on get on the ball here.

Lets all contacted Arconis, I already have, I let them know this: Guys and Gals, Win 10 support for DD12?

Well, there is one other option! I won't name names, but there are other products out there that will accomplish the same thing as DD12.

I personally really like DD12, but if there is not going to be any product support (or even Acronis acknowledgement of our concern) then the only Acronis product I may continue using would be the True Image backup software. DD12 has been a very easy product to use, and I cannot believe that making some minor program changes can be that difficult.

I used to be a PC Programmer Analyst for my employer so I feel I can be surprised at the lack of any kind of support or even an acknowledgement by Acronis with DD12.

I am not against using other software but I have sunk a bunch of money into multiple licenses for DD11 and DD12. I am supporting Acronis because I like their software and want to see them succeed. Too bad they don't feel the same way about their customers!

Alright Acronis, are you going to support your DD12 customers on Windows 10 with a patch or whatever it takes to get DD12 operational in that Windows 10 environment? I like your products, so PLEASE acknowledge our concerns and address the issue of making DD12 Windows 10-compliant.

I have reached out to tech news organization hoping this thing gets some legs.

Follow-up on my earlier comment on DD12. I downloaded the latest edition of Acronis' clean-up utility, ran it, reinstalled DD12 and Acronis TIH 2015 Build 6613. Thereafter DD12 read all my drives correctly. Since I needed no changes, I did not test function. I then had an issue with ATIH 2015 not being able to set up a new backup because it would not recognize drives. Curious, because other actions than attempting to set up a new backup that involved reading and selecting a drive worked fine. After several attempts, I again downloaded ATIH 2015 Build 6613 from the Acronis web site, ran the install and permitted the repair process to occur. Thereafter I made a backup image. ATIF ran fine the next day and had no trouble setting up a new backup or reading any drive. Ditto for DD12. Both appear to be working fine. My system is Win 10 Pro X64, 18Gb Ram and multiple 1Tb NTFS drives.

The clean up utility I used was Acronis Win 10 CleanupTool_46_en-US.

Good luck.

I am unable to locate Acronis Win 10 CleanupTool_46_en-US. Do you have a download link or url?

Glen,

The instructions and link to the CleanupTool download are posted in 48668: Acronis True Image 2015: Cleanup Utility. Here is the link to that page:

Good Luck!

I have updated to the latest version of DD12 3270, and it does now recognise the disc layout OK with Windows 10.   However, if you use a second HDD on a usb caddy with a GPT layout it fails with this error code

Event code: 0x00950009+0x00360192+0x0010047F

But if the second HDD is in MBR it's fine.   I am in this position as I bought a new PC and changed the 500GB HDD to a 120GB SSD and use the original one as a spare backup for the SSD.   It came with Win 10 x64 and was set up as GPT, but I don't want to change it as I can put it back in if the SSD fails, and it boots.

Any thoughts - I think it's a bug still in the compatibility of DD12 with Win 10?

Richard

It failed to install when I tried but after uninsatlling both DD and ATIH2016 rebooting and re-installing both product DD first both of them seem to run OK but I have not tried doing anything with DD just yet - keeping any eye on this forum to see what is being said.

Typical Acronis messup re installing/upgrading it really is about time they got that sort of thing resolved - its not rocket science!

It also seems you cannot move partitions on a disk say from the middle to the end of the disk. What I am not sure of is if this is a limitation of GPT disks or DD12. Does any one know?

Unfortunately, it is not clear what exactly means "does now recognise the disc layout OK". Could you please take a picture of it?

And what exactly error message occurrs?

Hello, RayG

It is possible to move volumes from the middle to the end of the disk if there is enough unallocated space at the end of the disk.

Best regards.

Sorry but I can't see a way I can move any of the T: drive partitions to the end of the disk they are on.

On disk 3 there are two small 512MB partitions that I cannot move to the end of the disk and retain the same size.

So if I am doing something wrong please explain. The disks are GPT.

I see that the disks are dynamic. There is no possibility to leave unallocated space before the dynamic volume (it is mentioned in the wizard (copy_partition.png)). And it is impossible to move such volumes to the end of the disk. This is by design.

Best regards.
