Cannot open AR4MSE mail archive - Password Problem

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

I hope someone can help.
I'm using Acronis Recovery for MS Exchange and Acronis True Image for SBS on my server (using Wndows SBS2008)
Note - I have no issues with the ATI4SBS and archive passwords are not an issue for me in that program.
Using Recovery for MS Exchange however is just not working. I've tried numerous technote approaches to no avail.

The problem. When I create a mail backup successfully, and try to open it, I am prompted for a password. If I've set the options for no encryption (password), it still prompts for a password and will not allow me to access the contents. If I set the encyrption to any level, (i.e.128) and set a password, either through the configuration wizard or through the default options, and then create the archive, I still cannot access the archive contents. I'm prompted for the password but when I enter the correct password, it is ignores it and I'm prompted again for the password.

I've tried simple passwords, short passwords, complex passwords, no passwords. No difference.
Yet my passwords work just fine with Acronis TI for SBS.

I've tried creating the archive using all 4 methods of archive creation (backup) and all have the same results. (Blocked by the request for a password.)

I've uninstalled and reinstalled and it make no difference.

Help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Rick

Hello Rick,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum. I will definitely help you with this issue.

If I understood your steps correctly, you try to double click on the .tib file created by Acronis Recovery for Exchange and it prompts you for a password.

Even though Acronis True Image Echo and Acronis Recovery for Exchange backup files have the same extension, they have different formats and Exchange backups cannot be browsed this way.

If you need to view the contents of your Exchange backup simply run the mail recovery wizard and view the backup's contents. You can take a look at page 79 from the user guide for additional information.

Please let me know if you need additional help.

Thank you.
