black screen after acronisloade
Hi,
We are using the snap deploy 5 for the moment to test one of or new laptops ( Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 7348) But we have a wierd problem.
If we boot the laptop everything goes fine, it loads the dhcp, it loads the PXe and we get the screen where we can choose, image deployment, create master image, continu to boot, etc
But no matter what option we take in this screen the next screen is always black and after some time the laptop reboots. Even if we choose continu to os the screen gets black. any idea's...?

Hello,
sorry to reopen an old post, but we have the same behavior.
We tried all 3 boot options but non of them worked. We also removed the quiet option to see if there is any output. There was nothing.
All we get is a black screen with a white cursor blinking after Snap Deploy Agent is selected.
Best regards.

EDV,
Did you boot from the Acronis bootable media and if so, did you boot in the same manner as the system is configured for (example: if your original is Legacy Bios with an MBR formatted disk install, you need to load the bootable media is legacy mode... vice-versa for UEFI/GPT systems)
Example onetime boot/boot override menu with Legacy and UEFI modes
Additionally, if you are booting UEFI mode, you need to make sure secure boot is disabled.
Finally, I would try a different boot medium (different type of DVD or a different USB drive) and recreate it. Bad media is often a red-herring that gets people.
I have used the same bootable media on numerous different physical systems (just about every Dell in the past 7 years, Surface Pro's, various tablets, etc) both 32 and 64-bit, UEFI and Legacy, Win XP, 7, 8.1, 10, Server 2008, 2012, etc and all work out fine. Getting the bios conifgured correctly on each system is something you'll have to make sure to do from your end and making sure you have a good rescue media though, is something you need to validate too. After that, booting to the correct method (UEFI or Legacy) is also something you need to make sure to do for each different type of system and for each type of deployment (you can't deploy a Legacy MBR image to a UEFI only system and vice-versa)
Also, how much memory does your system have? You really only need 1GB, but VM's can need more for the VM and the ramdisk that Acronis needs to create.

Hello,
our problem is, that we have to update 70 PCs in a pool. This cannot be done by hand with cd medium. I tried the given options within the Snapdeploy Startup Image wich is delivered by PXI. To verify things this is what happend at the moment:
- BIOS startup: OK
- DHCP discover: OK
- bootwiz.bin found: OK
- Acronis Snapdeploy Loader started: OK
- Start of deployment: failed
We sniffed the packages from the client and found that the last action is an arp request:
1129 18.409048000 98:90:96:d6:59:93 Broadcast ARP 60 Who has 131.173.XXX.XX? Tell 131.173.YYY.YYY
It's a strange thing to try to resolve an IP address. But the question is, where do we have to change the IP address to the server name?
Is it the next server entry from the DHCP offer?
regards,
Christian
PS: Our Acronis server has 24GB RAM and our workstations have 16GB. So RAM should not be an issue.

Hi.
I have the same problem.
We have about 200 HP Z400, and 100 HP Z240 machines.
I had a SD4 and its PXE worked perfect.
No we updated to SD5.
Boots to PXE, recieved IP address, menu shows up
Choosing any option: image deployment, create master image, continu to boot leads to black screen with blinking cursor.
No one of kernel options helps.
but if i remove LAN cable 1 minute after get kernel error
Tried to install acronis S&D 5 on different servers. No luck
Need help.
Thank You

I can't answer Ed's question, I'm not really sure and would have to defer to Acronis techincal support for assistance. I'd recommend contacting them directly. You could try this recommendation below as well though.
Nikolay, after upgrading over the top with SD5, sometimes, the PXE components need a "jumpstart". Easies method I've found is to remove the PXE componment from the uninstaller and reboot. then reinsall just the pxe component and restart again. That works everytime for me.
What version of SD5 do you have installed now as well? Before you do that, you can grab the 1666 beta from the SD5 forum sticky on the main page and install that. Then proceed with the PXE component removal and reinstall and hopefully you'll be back in business.
