Image Size is Larger than HDD Size

Thread needs solution

Greetings,

Please forgive my lack of knowledge.

I have 10 laptops that are identical. They are used for a non-profit distance learning center.

I've configured one machine and have all the updates for various software providers (Microsoft, Java, Adobe, etc).

I made a bootable thumbdrive with the Standalone Utility and Master Image Creator.

I've made an image of this machine and saved on my 2TB external HD.

When I go to another machine and boot using the Standalone Utility, the file size on the external HD exceeds the internal HD. This is preventing me from proceeding.

I did not see an option for compression when making the image.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Please clarify:
1. Master image size;
2. Hard Disk Drive capacity;
3. Occupied space on the source disk;
4. Is the issue reproduced with all machines?

By default, the compression is set to "Normal". So, the image is compressed by default. But you can select other options. The compression settings go just after the step when you select a location to store the image. See screenshot attached.

Also, it would be good to check the disk with "CHKDSK" under Windows before master image creation.
Log in to Windows and run Command Prompt "As Administrator".
Execute the command chkdsk [driveletter]: /f /r
for example: chkdsk C: /f /r

If the following message appears:
"Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)"
type "Y" and press "Enter". After that, reboot system and wait for checking completion.

Best regards.
