Snap Deploy with older 3Com 3c905TX nics

Thread needs solution

According to the documentation, when creating a deployment task, Wake On Lan is needed. I have older 3Com 3c905-TX nics running in XP Pro systems that do not support this feature. Is it absolutely necessary in order to deploy an image? Having to boot 25 targets manually is too inconvenient. If WOL is not a hard requirement, why do I get a 'waiting for computers' status message? No computers appear in the 'Computers available for deployment' either. Are the two related?

Shouldn't the task have forced the target to boot into the Snap Deploy agent?

Hello James,

Thank you for your question. I will definitely help you.

There is no actual need for the Wake On Lan feature when you need to deploy. If your hardware does not support this feature you will need to turn on your machines manually.

The 'waiting for computers' status message means that your deployment template has the option to 'Wait until all computers from the list are available'. I would recommend to boot each machine manually, either using the bootable media or the PXE server, then select all of your booted machines in the Acronis Snap Deploy 3 Management console and perform manual deployment. Please check page 69 from the user guide for additional information or the following KB article.

Thank you.
