Re: Deployment Tasks. How do I know which template it’s using?

Thread needs solution

I create a Deployment Task and associate it with a template. The Deployment Tasks display window only shows the image to be deployed. But I can create multiple templates that all deploy the the same image.  They only vary in tweaking other parameters/options.

How can I tell which template was assigned to a Deployment Task?

Hello!

You need to assign to each template a name that can be easily understood by the users: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ASD6/#setting-up-us…

Please refer also to the following user-guides with the information about the process:

https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ASD6/#deployment-te…

Feel free to reply if you have any questions.

Thanks.

<snip>

 Assume the following scenario

  • I create two templates. Both deploy MyTest.tib. They're named:
    •  Test Deployment - MyTest Parameter Set 1
    •  Test Deployment - MyTest Parameter Set 2
  • Both templates deploy the same image. The difference between them are their deployment settings.

When I look at Deployment Task display window, the info for a task only shows image MyTest.tib will be deployed. I don't know which deployment template was used. So, I don't which deployment settings will be applied.

If I try to Edit the task, I'll get to a display listing all deployment templates, but no indication of which template was used to for the task I'm editing. So after a deployment task is created and I come back a week later, how do I know which template (settings) are being used for a task? Or have I missed something?

IMHO Ideally, when I view the list of Deployment Tasks, I should also be able to see the template used. Not just the Master Image name. A descriptive template name would let me know which deployment settings are being used.

Tried including an image but kept saying "could not be uploaded" - a jpg only 800KB. Also said I can't inlcude a hyperlink in the text. ARGHH.
