Accidently deleted backup file inside True Image -- Need help recovering it

Thread needs solution

Sorry if this is redundant. Need help undeleting an incremental backup file I accidently deleted.

My backup files are stored on a 3TB external USB drive -- which is still attached to my laptop. To keep things organized, I typically clear the backup file list and then load the file I want to restore. This is done by selecting the dropdown, then delete, then SETTINGS ONLY. This morning, I did the same thing, but accidently brushed the mouse pad with the palm of my hand. Of course, the coursor was on top of "whole backup", so my backup file got deleted.

Any idea how I can quickly get the file back? I tried a couple of freeware restoration utilities, but don't have 12 hours to wait for them to scan the entire drive.

Thanks in advance

VGuitarist, the most important advice that I can offer to you is to ensure that you do not use the 3TB external USB drive for any other purpose except for the attempt at recovering your backups from.  When files are deleted only a few bytes in the Master file table are actually changed to indicate that the space used by the files is now 'free' and can be used by any application needing it.

Thus if you run a utility such as Recuva or any other deleted file recovery utilities, they have a very good chance of getting the backups back - provided nothing has been allowed to write to the drive since the deletion happened.

Do not let any defragmentation utilities run against the external drive either.
