Acronis True Image 2016

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis True Image installed on a desktop PC. I connect an Laptop hard drive that i want to clone of 750Gb in size and the destination disk is a laptop hard drive 1000Gb SSHD. I get a fatal error screen when i put the newly created cloned hard drive into the laptop. When i connect the cloned drive back onto the desktop it has hundreds of file system errors. However if i delete the partitions on the cloned hard drive and format it and run chkdsk it finds no errors. Please help, i am desperate!

Derek, I would recommend trying an alternative approach to cloning the laptop drive.

Connect the source laptop drive to your desktop PC and make a full backup disk image of all partitions to either a location on the desktop PC or to another external drive.  Ensure that the backup completes successfully and can be validated without any errors.

Remove the source laptop drive and connect the new 1TB SSHD drive to the desktop PC.
Restore the backup image from the source laptop drive to the new SSHD drive and again confirm that this succeeds without errors and can be validated without errors.

Install the new SSHD drive into the laptop.

Note: The recommended process of cloning a drive is to put the new drive in the place of the original drive in the laptop and attach the original drive by USB or similar, then clone in that way.  One issue that may arise is if the new SSHD drive requires any additional drivers to be loaded that the current laptop drive doesn't have - you could test this by connecting the SSHD drive to the laptop and verifying that the laptop can connect to the drive / register that it is connected and offer to format it if it is not already formatted.
