ATI 2016 suddenly will not backup C-drive

Thread needs solution

My backup task for my C-drive has worked well until now. This morning after it was to have created a 5th incremental backup, it had the popup:

  the last backup has failed.
cannot find the partition selected for the backup.

I rebooted the computer and tried the task again, same result.

I tried creating a brand new task to backup the drive, but ATI seems to lock up in trying to finish creating the task.  I am able to cancel out of that.  One obvious new bad thing in the Backup Source screen is garble for the name of the parent partition? (not sure that's what to call it); under that it says correctly that the partitions to be backed up are:

  System Reserved

  MML-XPS-C

I have checked my C-drive by looking at: Windows properties; Disk Manager in Control Panel; and Intel Rapid Storage Technology; all say the drive is fine and do not show garbled text for any drive label.  I am using Windows 7 64-bit.

I am attaching a screen clip of ATI showing the garbled drive info.

Help will be appreciated!

Wow!  That's the wierdest thing I have seen yet!

Looks like possibly foreign language but not sure.

I would recommend run a repair on the Tru Image installation.

Go to Control Panel>Programs and Features and locate Acronis True Image in the list.

Select that entry and choose Uninstall

A menu will appear offering a Repair option

Select Repair and wait until it finishes.

At that point I would then restart the machine, open the app and see if the problem still exists.

Mary,

Another thing you could try is to boot from repair media, set up a backup (no need to run the backup), and see if you get garbled text for the C: drive.  If the repair media program sees the drive OK, then, hopefully Enchantec's solution works for you.

Thank you, thank you!  I did the Repair option, re-created my task, and labels and backups are good!

Thank you both for your help.

Mary

Your welcome.
