Back up to external HD, no FTP connection

Thread needs solution

Good evening,  I have been backing up my whole PC  or so I thought, it is going to an external Seagate hard drive.  but I cannot find any of the most recent back ups,  I get an error cannot find version 4 and then it will ask for a new FTP connection

Not quite sure what I am supposed to do next

Pete, welcome to these user forums.

Please download a copy of the Log File Viewer app from the forum and use this to look at the Service logs for your backup tasks to see what messages have been written to these logs and any errors that may have been reported.

You can use the app to copy the log files to a temporary location then post some of them (zipped is best) to the forum so we can try to help you understand what has been / is happening with the backups?  
Note: Run the app as Administrator in order to use the option in the File menu to Copy log files as otherwise you may get a permissions error because they are held in a hidden folder (in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs).

Can you also confirm the exxact version / build for ATIH 2016 that you are using - you will see this on the Profile page of the program (icon that looks like a head & shoulders outline).  Also how is the external Seagate drive connected to your system and what version of Windows are you running?
